The Shalom Center was established in 1982. It is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) social service organization providing a safe and supportive environment to those less fortunate in the Kenosha community. On the following pages you will find information about our history, programs, volunteer opportunities and needs list. We welcome you to look through our website and find out more about our place in the community.

The Shalom Center's Annual Walk-Against-Hunger fundraising event will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 at Veteran's Park-54th Street and 5th Avenue-in Kenosha. Registration will be at 9am and the Walk will begin at 930am. You can pick up a pledge form at the Shalom Center or call Susanne at 658-1713 ext. 121 to have a form mailed or faxed to you.
Individuals can earn a commemorative walk t-shirt for collecting a minimum of $50 in cash contributions or $15 in cash contributions plus 10 non-perishable food items.
Our newly crowned Miss Kenosha will lead the walk and Bob the Bear from 1st Banking Center will be along with balloons for the kids!

The Executive Corner
By Dan H. Melyon

After several years of hard work by numerous people, organizations and city and county government we have located a site for our much needed new facility. This facility will replace the current rotating overnight shelter program (INNS) with a 24/7 single-site homeless shelter and will also house our food pantry. The location is on 79th Street just east of and adjacent to the Kenosha Achievement Center. We continue to look for others to join our capital campaign committee to help with the hard work ahead. We are looking for interested persons to become involved with the steering committee, fund-raising development committee and many more opportunities. Please contact me at melyond@shalomcenter.org for more information or if you want to help in developing and implementing these fundraising plans.
